Project Summary
Thermogard HQ is a Temperature Management System used in medical settings. While my primary focus was on UI/UX design for the device, I also contributed in several other areas. This included creating illustrations and designs for the instruction sheet beneath the console lid, as well as designing labels and icons to be placed around the console. These visual elements were aimed at simplifying the user experience, helping users set up and operate the system more efficiently.

Challenges
While I am unable to share non public assets such as previous versions, user flows, or screens in different languages, I can provide more insight into the process in an interview. One of the biggest challenges we faced was that users struggled to assemble the machine unless they had prior experience with it. This was especially concerning given the device’s critical use in emergency situations. Another major obstacle was working with an outdated screen interface that limited the ability to implement modern design practices. Additionally, I had no prior knowledge of medical terminology or technology, which required me to quickly learn and adapt to the specific needs of the healthcare industry.
Solution
If the video above from Zoll is still available on YouTube, you can seea glimpse of the instruction sheet I significantly revamped under the lid, as well as the labels I created on the console to guide users more easily through the setup process. After conducting multiple rounds of user testing and incorporating feedback from nurses, doctors, and other field professionals, we achieved over a 90% success rate in machine setup, an enormous win! Despite the limitations of the console’s outdated screen and color options, I was able to streamline the design, making it sleeker and more user friendly. This included illustrating new visuals for the instruction sheet, reorganizing the layout, and designing labels for the console, screen faceplate, and beneath the lid. I also contributed to selecting the color scheme and determining where the new logo would be placed on the console.
