Project Summary
During my time on the Walgreens team, I was responsible for creating digital weekly ads that were featured on the Walgreens website and mobile app. These ads highlighted the latest weekly deals, making it easy for customers to access promotions across various categories, including personal care, vitamins, and groceries. Each week, new creative was developed to ensure the ads remained fresh and aligned with the ongoing promotions.

Challenges
Creating weekly ads can sometimes feel repetitive, especially given the consistency of the format and the need to showcase similar products and promotions week after week. However, I see this as an opportunity to get creative and push myself. The challenge lies in finding fresh and engaging ways to present the same content, constantly reinventing the visual approach to keep it interesting and aligned with the evolving brand strategy.
Solution
To keep the designs fresh, I utilized my Photoshop compositing skills to create unique arrangements for each weekly ad. When achieving a realistic look through digital mockups wasn't possible, I would label the concept with a "styled shot" yellow tag. As the art director, I then directed the photoshoot, working with the photographer and stylist to bring my vision to life. The first image shows my initial Photoshop mockup with the yellow tag, followed by the behind-the-scenes shot where the stylist creatively used mashed potatoes to hold up the almonds. The final images showcase the polished result of how the offers appeared on the web and app.
Additional Work
Below, you can explore some additional examples of the weekly ads I worked on. Typically, we would create between 9-13 pieces each week, and over time, I began designing custom 3D backgrounds for the products to avoid the repetition of stock imagery. With my 3D design skills, I was able to create custom pedestals and environments for the products, including unique wooden cubed pedestals used below, showcasing the endless possibilities that 3D design offers. This approach not only provided a more realistic and polished look but also saved time compared to traditional photoshopping, all while pushing the creative boundaries of what could be achieved.
